A Snapshot of the Future: Why We Believe in Work Experience
Recently, Korbyn joined us for a work experience placement, a small moment we’re happy to share, and one that reflects something we care about deeply.
Korbyn’s Time With Us
Over two weeks, Korbyn got a hands-on introduction to property law, wills, trusts, prenuptial agreements, AML and Legal Marketing. Here’s what Korbyn had to say:
“I completed a two-week work experience placement with the Wesley Jones Law Team, and it gave me a genuine, hands-on look into property law, wills, trusts, and prenuptial agreements. The team was incredibly kind and welcoming, and answered every question I had, no matter how small, making sure I understood what was happening at every step even when the material got complex. If I were ever buying property or setting up a will or trust, this is exactly the firm I’d go to myself. Professional, patient, and genuinely generous with their time, I’d recommend them to anyone. Thank you for such a valuable experience!” — Korbyn
Why We Open Our Doors
At Wesley Jones Law, we believe in equipping and empowering people across all generations. That includes young people still figuring out their working life. We offer work experience placements so students and young adults can get a real, hands-on look at what a career in law actually involves, not just an online or brochure version of it.
Every young person deserves the chance to test an interest against reality. It’s easy to romanticise a career from the outside; it’s another thing to sit in the room and see how the work actually feels. That’s the point of work experience: it turns curiosity into either a confirmed passion or a valuable “not for me” — both are wins.
Why This Matters More Than Ever
We live in uncertain times, and it’s tempting to think you need everything figured out before committing to anything. We’d offer a different view: chase what pulls at you right now. You never know what the future holds, or which door that first step might open. A couple of weeks in a real workplace can save years of wondering and can just as easily spark a career.
